Mark, thank you for those insights. I have a love/hate relationship with LinkedIn. Most of my business-related social media content is posted there and, on rare occasions, it generates conversations.

I'd like to ask (respectfully): Doesn't your considerable following and influence also contribute to your posts' getting numerous responses? That's not to suggest frequency, creativity, topic, etc, don't play a role, but it does seem to me that the number of connections and followers is a factor. Am I wrong?

Thank you for your comment Paul. For the past 16 years, I have diligently built my personal brand by publishing helpful content freely. So of course, one part of that success is building up an audience. As i said in my post, That is why I have regularly had consistent traction on LinkedIn. I've worked hard for it and it has resulted in business benefits. But it's rare for anybody to get more than 100,000 views on anything these days. so this was a case study of a unicorn that broke all the "rules."

Thank you, Mark. I admire you and others, like Ann Handley, who kept their hand on the plow for years to build an audience and reputation. So, congrats on that unicorn experience. It reminds me of the title of Eugene Peterson’s book, A Long Obedience in the Same Direction. In your case, it’s a long dedication to the same direction.

I look forward to seeing you at CEX (if you’re planning to attend).

Never forget the power of just reaching out for even five minutes to just say hi to someone and offer support. I tell all my authors Mark how you are truly one of the top three marketing experts in the world. I appreciate most the dedication you have to help others and that you are driven by this passion of yours.
